“I will go by the verdict of the Supreme Court”, K.M. Ashokan, father of Akhila/Hadiya told reporters at his residence in T V Puram near Vaikom on Monday.

He was reacting to the directive of the Supreme Court that the girl be produced before it on November 27.

“I am ready to take her to any place. I am not concerned in which faith she believes,” he said.

According to him, the girl was free to move around.

He had asked her to move out under police protection. “It was on her own will that she decided not to move out of the house,” Mr. Ashokan said.

She was never under house arrest. The police were deployed for protection of the family, he said.

Widespread campaign

Mr. Ashokan said there was a widespread campaign against him and his family right from the beginning of the case. “This has been meticulously planned,” he alleged.

According to him, he was not concerned about his daughter’s religious conversion.

“I am not concerned in which religion she believes. And she can marry from any religion,” he said.

“However, in the present case, I have placed before the court, this gang has connection with extremist elements. I am sure the court will take the right decision.”
