NOIDA: Bhure Lal, Chairman of the Environment Pollution (Prevention and Control) Authority (EPCA) will hold a meeting with about 40 builders with ongoing projects in Noida on Wednesday, November 1. On his agenda is to warn them of dire consequences if they fail to adhere to green norms during construction activity, which is leading to an alarming rise in environment pollution in the city.

According to Noida Authority officials, the meeting will take place in Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra located in sector 6. Members of CREDAI are also scheduled to participate in the meeting.

The decision to hold a meeting follows the EPCA Chairman's visit to the city last week on Saturday, October 28 wherein he visited sectors 125, 75 and 76 and took stock of the under -construction projects there. The official made the visit to Noida after TOI had reported that out of the five most polluted spots in the NCR, sector 125 in Noida was one of them.

Officials further said that the Chairman is likely to direct builders to adhere to green norms laid down by the National Green Tribunal for their under-construction projects in the city. Anyone flouting the laid down norms is likely to be penalized, officials said.
