A woman died and 57 others got injured when an old iron bridge collapsed in Chavara near Kollam today. The bridge was being used as a walkway across a canal.

The deceased has been identified as 55-year-old Shyamala, an employee of state-run Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited (KMML). The bridge was located inside the KMML complex.

The collapsed bridge connects the company's complex to its adjacent mineral separation (MS) unit.

All the injured were admitted to a nearby government hospital, police said.
