Memo issued to constable for hoisting flag upside down

Vasco: Vasco police inspector, acting on the complaint by deputy collector of Mormugao, Mahadev Arondekar, on Monday issued a memorandum to the constable who hoisted the national flag upside down outside the deputy collector's office on Saturday.

Arondekar has written to Vasco police saying his office was left embarrassed over the flag-hoisting fiasco and has demanded strict action against the constable under the flag code.

Yunus Shaikh, identified by Vasco police as the constable who wrongly hoisted the flag, has been asked to give his reply within 24 hours, in writing. Vasco police is investigating the matter.
