SAI trainee hit in the neck by an arrow during practice, safe

An arrow pierced the neck of of a girl trainee during archery practice this morning at the Sports Authority of centre at Bolpur in and was later removed.

SAI centre in-charge Utpal Ganguly said that an arrow thrown by another trainee pierced the right side of her neck, a little above the shoulder of 14-year-old Farida Khatun at Kabiguru Kriangan during practice. The arrow broke after piercing the skin of her neck.


"The direction of the arrow had changed suddenly due to the wind. The girl is now out of danger," he said.

The standard eight student, who hails from nearby Labhpur village, was rushed to Bolpur sub-division hospital where doctors took out the broken arrow, he added.

The girl was later discharged. Her mother Ayesha Khatun said "This was an accident. We have no complains".
