Vasco: The demolition order of a structure used for religious activities at Sada has created controversy in Vasco. A representation of 100-odd people from Sada thronged Mormugao deputy collector Mahadev Arondekar's office on Monday and questioned him as to why he had issued the demolition order.

Councillor Nilesh Navelkar said, "This structure is standing for over 10 years. Various religious activities like Murgaoncho Raja during Chaturthi, and Diwali competitions are organised here. There is nothing illegal." Sources said Arondekar complained about illegal activities happening at the 30sqm structure. On inspecting the premises he found no such activity. Arondekar had ordered the municipality to demolish the structure on Wednesday.
