Rowdy hacked to death, cops to use CCTV footage to trace culprits

GUNTUR: A 38-year-old man was hacked to death in a gruesome manner in the busy Arundelpet area of Guntur city on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Basavala Vasu, came out of a shop and was standing on the road when six persons covering their faces with masks came in a Scorpio and attacked him.They first hit him with the vehicle, and when he fell down, they repeatedly hacked him with sharp weapons. Later, they fled the spot, leaving Basavala dead in a pool of blood. 

It all happened in a matter of minutes, taking everyone by surprise. This sudden attack and the brutality with which it was carried out left the public shell-shocked. According to Arundelpet CI Y Srinivasa Rao, Basavala, a resident of Vidya Nagar, was a rowdy-sheeter.

It could be possible that his rivals may have murdered him.The entire incident was captured by surveillance cameras and based on the footage, police are trying to identify the attackers. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
