Jaipur: Cases of dengue are sharply spiralling upward in Jaipur. 1,133 cases have been reported in the city so far. Now, Jaipur will replicate the measures taken by Kota to check the disease.

TOI had on Saturday reported, '11 RAS officers deployed to tackle dengue in Kota' emphasising that such efforts were lacking in Jaipur.

While conducting a review meeting on seasonal diseases, principal secretary health Veenu Gupta instructed officials to replicate the measures implemented in Kota to prevent the spread of dengue in Jaipur.

"Special focus will be on intensive fogging. Directions have been given to conduct fogging in the city in a planned manner. The exercise will continue for five days," a health department official said.

"Just like Kota, mapping of high risk areas will be done in Jaipur. Directions for the same have been given," the official said.

First of all, Kota district administration identified high risk areas. Then, they took help of NGOs and civil defence department to conduct survey of houses to see if residents were inadvertently aiding mosquito breeding.

On similar lines, Jaipur will launch 'domestic breeding checker' programme. Under this, breeding sites of mosquitoes will be destroyed.

Kota and Jaipur are the worst affected districts in terms of dengue. Till Saturday, 3,999 cases of dengue had been reported in the state. Out of them, 1,133 cases were from Jaipur and 1,279 cases from Kota.

Meanwhile, officials claimed that swine flu scare was almost over in the state as in October only 243 cases were reported, while in September there were 1,807 cases of the flu.
