Incidents reported at Andheri Metro station and skywalk near Goregoan station

The Andheri police have initiated an investigation into a complaint that a man was seen masturbating at Airport Road Metro station in Andheri on Thursday afternoon.

The complainant tweeted on Thursday evening that she saw the man indulging in the act between 3.45 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the premises of the Metro station. The Mumbai Police then contacted her through their Twitter handle.

The police said Metro authorities would be contacted to access the CCTV footage and identify the accused. A spokesperson of Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd said, “We would extend full cooperation to the authorities if approached.”

In another incident, a 24-year-old law student tweeted to the police on Friday night that her house faced the skywalk near Goregaon station and she could see men exposing themselves. She tweeted, “wn u dnt feel safe evn at home goregaon west skywalk I’m home studn and men stand in front of d window with thr genitals out (sic).”

The woman told The Hindu that she witnessed instances of flashing once every two or three days. She said, “These are not beggars. They are well-dressed men who expose themselves the minute they see a girl or a woman at her window.”

The Mumbai Police replied to her tweets and sent her a link to file an online complaint. They assured her that the complaint would be forwarded to the authority concerned. The victim said she ready to get an FIR filed as well.
