The Special Investigation Division of CB-CID on Saturday claimed of having recovered the weapon used by assailants in the murder of Hindu Munnani spokesperson C. Sasikumar after a week-long search at the sewage farm near Ukkadam.

The weapon, a sickle, was recovered from the sewage farm based on the confession of Subair, one of the accused arrested in the case. CB-CID officials said that the sickle, which the assailants allegedly dumped in the sewage farm after murdering Sasikumar, will be produced before court.

Later, the investigation team will seek the court for permission to subject the same for scientific examination.

Man arrested

The Race Course police have arrested Murugan alias John (35) from Pollachi, who allegedly attempted to canvass the family of an accident victim admitted at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) to shift him to a private hospital.

The police said that John had attempted to canvas the family of Chandrasekar from Pollachi, who was brought to CMCH following a road traffic accident. When confronted by a doctor at CMCH, John also created a ruckus at the ward. Based on a complaint filed from CMCH, the police arrested John.

He was remanded in judicial custody.
