Tribal girl raped in Rajasthan

A 17-year-old tribal girl was allegedly raped several times by a man living in her neighbourhood in Anantpura police station area here, police said today.

The man, Vijendra Singh alias Gajju (27), has been booked and detained for interrogation after the girl's parents filed a complaint yesterday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajesh Meshram said.


According to the complaint, the accused had been sexually exploiting and raping the girl for about a year and threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed it to anyone, the DSP said.

Vijendra Singh has been booked under Section 376 (rape), and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the police officer said.

The girl has been sent for medical examination, he added.
