NELLORE: Two leading educational groups in the state — Sri Chaitanya and Narayana — are at loggerheads over student admissions. The institutions which had joined hands for CHINA (a joint venture to manage some campuses) have developed differences following the shifting of three students from one institute to another. Horse-trading charges peaked on Friday when the management of Narayana College encouraged the parents of the students to lodge complaints against Sri Chaitanya College accusing kidnap of their wards. Nellore One Town Police have registered a case under Sec 363 of the IPC.

The management of Sri Chaitanya College allegedly lured D Teja Kiran, Md Fazil Ahmed and another student studying in Class 10 at Dhanalakshmipuram IIT Olympiad School to sign up for its coaching programme. The students are toppers of the IIT course run by the Narayana management.

Narayana Educational Institutions general manager V Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy on Saturday accused the Sri Chaitanya management of taking away the group's best students from them during Diwali holidays. He claimed it was not the first time that the group had poached toppers to boost their IIT entrance exam performance records.

“Assistant general manager Parthasarathy of Sri Chaitanya Institutions picked up the students from their respective houses during Diwali holidays offering them seats in the group’s Hyderabad branch,” Reddy told reporters.Sk Riyaz, the father of Fazil Ahamed, one of the allegedly kidnapped students, said his son who was doing SSC in Narayana group’s Dhanalakshmipuram branch was taken away by Sri Chaitanya College dean Ramesh saying he would be provided admission in CHINA College at Hyderabad. “However, I later found out that it was not the case and that he was being taken to Sri Chaitanya College instead. I asked the management of the college to send my son back and lodged a kidnap complaint,” he said.

Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions director Sushma Chowdary said the group was being targeted and their reputation damaged. She said the claims of the Narayana management were baseless.  “We have been facing trouble with the Narayana management for the past few years,” she said. However, she was quick to add that differences over the shifting of the three students would not have any effect on CHINA batches. Nellore DSP MRV Murali confirmed a kidnap case had been lodged against the Sri Chaitanya Institutions management.
