‘Mauvin must apologise for corruption remark’

Margao: The Goa unit of Shiv Sena on Saturday condemned panchayat minister Mauvin Godinho's statement blaming the panchayat secretaries for rampant corruption at the village-level local bodies.

Speaking to reporters, Goa Shiv Sena vice-president and spokesperson Rakhi Naik asked Godinho to tender an unconditional apology to all the panchayat secretaries. She said, "Many of the panchayat secretaries have worked sincerely for the betterment of the panchayat bodies without indulging into corrupt practices."

"It is condemnable that Godinho is making all the panchayat secretaries look like a corrupt class of people just because they are government servants and have no voice," Naik added.
