Rahul, Manmohan to bepart of Padayorukkam

Yatra will begin from Uppala on November 1

Congress Working Committee (CWC) member A.K. Antony will inaugurate the UDF’s Padayorukkam, the yatra led by Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala, at Uppala in Kasaragod on November 1.

Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to be crowned president of the Congress by then, will take part in the rally on the day the yatra ends in Thiruvananthapuram on December 1.

Congress leader V.D. Satheesan, MLA, said here on Saturday that the yatra would be the UDF’s campaign against the anti-people policies of the State and Central governments.

Indian Union Muslim League leader Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal will address a rally in connection with the yatra in Kozhikode on November 8 and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address a public meeting at Rajendra Maidan in Ernakulam on November 17.

A galaxy of national leaders such as Gulam Nabi Azad, Sharad Yadav, P. Chidambaram, Kapil Sibal, Punjan Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddharamaiah, Pondicherry Chief Minister V. Narayanaswamy, Sachin Pilot, Manisankar Aiyer and IUML leader Khader Mohideen will address meetings associated with the yatra at various places.

A signature campaign, with the aim of collecting one-crore signatures, against the State and Central governments, would be conducted along with this.
