A fast-track court here has sentenced a man to 10-year jail term for raping a 20-year-old woman for several months after promising to marry her.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on Sompal, a resident of Jandehi village in Shamli district, after holding him guilty for the crime.
Her lawyer said the woman was pregnant and had to abort her foetus in September 2015.
He said the accused had refused to marry her.
