French Open Super Series: Kidambi Srikanth beats HS Prannoy; PV Sindhu crashes out

Still neck-to-neck in the third game as Prannoy leads Srikanth 13-12

At the break in the second game, Prannoy has a one-point lead over Srikanth in the men's singles semi-final

Prannoy, after winning the opening game 21-14, leads Srikanth 4-3 in the second

ALL OVER! Yamaguchi thrashes PV Sindhu 21-14 21-9 and books a place in women's singles final. It was a close-fought contest till 14-14 in the first game but was Yamaguchi all the way since then

Prannoy leads Srikanth 16-13 in the men's singles semi-final

3-14 behind in the second game, India's PV Sindhu needs a special effort to turn the game her way

Yamaguchi takes 18th of the last 20 points and heads into the mid-game break in 11-2 lead. Sindhu is clearly struggling now as the Japanese continues to dictate terms in the middle

Meanwhile, all-Indian semi-final is underway on the other court. Prannoy is leading 7-6 in the opening game of the men's singles contest

And the wait ends for Sindhu! The Indian shuttler finally gets on board in the second game and makes it 1-6. She lost 13 straight points before getting one in her favour

SENSATIONAL! Yamaguchi pockets seven straight points to seal the opening game 21-14. It was very neck-to-neck at 14-14 but the Japanese switched to top gear just when it mattered and didn't allow Sindhu any chance of a comeback

Yamaguchi opens up a four-point lead in the business end of the first game. Couldn't have asked for a better time to land her smashes like she did on the last four occasions

Sindhu dominates the rally, guiding her opponent on the court and then seals the deal with a clinical crosscourt. The angle doesn't allow Yamaguchi to get down in time to make the return

Out of nowhere, Sindhu produces a THUNDEROUS SMASH and certainly takes Yamaguchi by surprise. It was within her reach but she was clearly not expecting that response from her opponent

At the mid-game break, very little separates the two as Yamaguchi leads Sindhu 11-10

One, returned. Two, returned. Third, no chance there. Aggressive play by Yamaguchi earns her a point. The shuttler kept smashing and finally got the better of Sindhu

Angle, drop, drop, drop, drop and Yamaguchi's return finds the net. Both players are warming up it seems and we could see some long ralies as the game progresses

Lovely rally by both players as they use brilliant angles to push each other.  After matching Yamaguchi with every shot, Sindhu's shot goes long and the Indian concedes the point to make it 6-6 in the first game

First the smash crashes into the net and then the drop goes wide, Sindhu, trailing 0-2, makes it 2-2 against Yamaguchi in the opening game

Sindhu will play from the right side of the court while Yamaguchi will begin from the left side. The refereee declares play and the semi-final gets underway

Akame Yamaguchi earlier beat Saina Nehwal and will be against No 2 seed PV Sindhu. Sindhu had straight-game wins in her first three matches and would look to do more of the same against Yamaguchi 

The two shuttlers take court and commence their warm-ups before the action begins

PV Sindhu is set to take court against Akame Yamaguchi in the women's singles semi-final. Later in the day, it will be an all-Indian men's singles semi-final as HS Prannoy will be up against Kidambi Srikanth
