Pune: A 24-year-old computer engineer was arrested by the Hadapsar police for stalking and molesting a married woman (37) at Gadital in Hadapsar around 2.45pm on Friday.

The engineer is a resident of Phulewadi in Kolhapur, but he was residing at Bhekrainagar in Phursungi.

The suspect befriended the woman on a social networking site. Soon, the duo started meeting each other, following which the man started liking her.

According to the police, when the woman's husband came to know about this development, he warned the suspect to maintain distance from his wife.

The suspect, however, continued to meet her.

Police said on Friday the suspect started stalking the woman, he caught hold of her hand and molested her. After the woman's husband sought an explanation from the engineer, he picked up a fight with the couple. He abused them in a filthy language and beat the man up.

After the situation got out of control, the woman took a call to register an FIR against the techie.

The suspect was arrested on charges of stalking and molesting, among other offences under the Indian Penal Code, police said.
