Four held with fake notes from Morbi

Rajkot: Four persons were arrested with fake currency notes with face value Rs 5,25,300 from Morbi on Saturday evening.

Police have identified the accused as Harshad Divani, a resident of Gayatrinagar on Vavadi Road in Morbi, Govind Maheshwari, a resident of Bharapar village of Abdasa taluka in Kutch, Mayur Nimawat, a resident of Relief Nagar in Morbi, and Imran Sanghwani, a resident of Juna Devaliya village of Halwad taluka in Morbi district.


"The seizure include 138 notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, 482 notes of Rs 500 denomination and 83 notes of Rs 100 denomination. That apart, we have also seized four cellphones from the accused," an official from Morbi local crime branch said. They added that all notes are colour photocopies of original currency notes.


During their interrogation, the accused revealed the name of their accomplice as Jaydeep Joshi following which the police have launched a manhunt for him.


Police further said that Maheshwari used to print the notes in Abdasa. He had also delivered 38 fake notes of Rs 100 denomination to Joshi on Saturday morning.
