Karnataka Minister attends road show in city

KOCHI: Marketing has to be stepped up so that there is more awareness about the health benefits of eating organic food. This in turn will raise the demand for such produce, resulting in low prices, Karnataka Minister for Agriculture Krishna Bere Gowda said here on Friday.

He was addressing a road show in the city on Friday ahead of an international expo-cum-sale titled ‘Organics and Millets 2018’. The event will be held at Palace Ground, Bengaluru, from January 19 to 21.

Mr. Gowda said the demand for organically-cultivated produce was on the rise. He sought the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices to ensure good remuneration for organic farmers. On Kerala having far too many people with diabetes as compared to the national average, he said people should consume more millets and adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Karnataka Agriculture Commissioner G. Satish and Agriculture Secretary M. Maheshwara Rao were present.
