Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday concluded her five-day visit to Karaikal with an interactive session with students of Government Avvaiyar College and other colleges.
She called upon the students to become self-reliant, understand the purpose of education, learn to be self-learners and maintain their health which would enable them to pursue their goals.
A press release issued by Raj Nivas detailed the important decisions arrived at meetings with government officials and various stakeholders included formation of co-ordination committee comprising elected representatives and officials under the chairmanship of district collector to review and monitor key issues relating to Karaikal region.
Ms. Bedi directed the Collector or his representative to make field visit to headquarters for follow-up of pending proposals in Puducherry. It was decided that field visits would be made at 7.30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. She stressed the need for an effective communication strategy for robust dissemination of information about government policies.
Earlier, Ms. Bedi held discussions with the director of health and family welfare services, mission director, NRHM and officers of Karaikal district administration.
