The biggest audio launch in the calendar of Indian cinema happened on Friday. The cast and crew of Shankar’s gigantic project 2.0, including Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar were in Dubai to unveil the film’s music. Composed by AR Rahman, two of the songs were performed live at Dubai’s Burj Park by the maestro himself. According to reports, the third song was also performed at the event but will be officially launched later. The film’s leading lady Amy Jackson set the stage on fire with her svelte moves for the first song “Endhira Logathu”, which is a love song between two machines. Before taking the stage, in an interaction with the hosts, Shankar said, “We (Rahman and I) had to work a lot on Enthiran’s Irumbile oru Idhayam song. That was an unusual situation. Similarly, in 2.0 we have a love song between two machines and we have worked a lot for the same”.

Talking about the ace director, Rahman said, “Shankar is very passionate about what he does which is why he constantly pushes boundaries.”

The theme tracks from the album were also performed by Rahman and his team to rousing cheers. Meanwhile the antagonists’ theme was introduced by Akshay Kumar who made a grand entry on the stage with the trademark crow wings flanking him. When he was referred to as Superstar, the actor was quick to say that Rajinikanth is the Superstar. “He is super, he is the star and he will always be” said Akshay, also thanking him for the opportunity to work on such a magnum opus project.

Taking the stage, the Thalaivar said, “This is the first time I am coming to Dubai. I am really thankful to Shankar and Subaskaran for giving me this opportunity. I will not say that the movie is of Hollywood standards as it will feel like I am blowing my own horn. But the audience would definitely feel it when they watch the movie”.
