An encounter took place between police and ultra outfit Jharkhand Jan-Mukti Parishad (JJMP) at Sevdhara village in naxal-affected Latehar district today, a senior police officer said.
The encounter took place when a police team on anti-ultra campaign spotted a group of JJMP activists, who had assembled near a school. The ultras opened firing on seeing the police personnel, forcing them to retaliate, Superintendent of Police, Dhananjay Singh said.
No casualty was reported in the encounter, he said adding that the ultras made a hasty retreat into jungles.
Police has recovered 11 live cartridges, four blankets, medicines and catapults from the spot, the SP added.
