‘Fixed’ water pipe bursts again in Ponda

| Oct 29, 2017, 03:57 IST
Ponda: Constituents of Marcaim and Priol constituencies and Curti village in Ponda taluka could suffer from acute water problems on Sunday as the newly-replaced part of the water pipeline at Kerye-Khandepar in Ponda taluka burst as soon as the officials released water after the repairs.

However, the staff had not even opened the supply valve when the pipe broke open on Saturday afternoon, an official said.

A major pipeline damage at Kerye on Saturday had hampered the water supply to the area and the problem was expected to be resolved by Saturday evening. But, with the replaced pipe giving way, villagers face trouble for another day. PWD executive engineer Dileep Dhavalikar admitted that his officials "could not spot the hairline crack to the damaged piece of pipe".
