BENGALURU: A 24-year-old garment factory employee who allegedly misbehaved with a woman was thrashed by locals at Peenya in Byadarahalli police station limits on Friday. The parents of the woman did not file a case as the man was known to the family.
A senior police officer said that around 2.30pm on Friday, the accused came on a motorbike to the factory where the woman works. He was allegedly under the influence of drugs and started shouting and demanding the factory staff to send the woman along with him. The factory owner warned him to go away from the spot.
After a while, when the woman was going out for lunch, the man followed her on his bike and started misbehaving with her. He, however, fell off his bike while following her.
Soon, the woman’s grandfather, who works as security guard in the same factory, was alerted about the incident. Passersby who saw the man misbehaving with the woman nabbed him, tied him to a pole and thrashed him.
Ramaswamy, a witness, said the man was a native of Kalaburagi and worked night shifts at a garment factory in Peenya. He had been following the woman for the past few days and had threatened to throw acid on her if she informed anyone.
When locals checked his pocket, they did not find any acid.
Byadarahalli police rushed to the spot after residents informed them about the incident. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.
