BHUBANESWAR: Commissionerate Police, on Thursday, arrested Rahul Swain (30) of Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district for online fraud. Swain had placed an advertisement to sell his two-wheeler on a Website under the name of Prakash Nayak. Indian Coast Guard Pradhan Navik, Lakhvir Singh, who was recently transferred to Bhubaneswar, contacted Swain on July 29 to purchase the two-wheeler.
The complainant met Swain in Nayapalli and gave him `30, 000 for the two-wheeler. However, Swain hoodwinked Singh by claiming that he had left behind a document of the vehicle at his house. Swain took the two-wheeler on the pretext of getting the document from his house and did not return. Singh approached Commissionerate Police and Crime Branch, but that was of little help.
Singh then sent a mail to the online site from his official mail ID after which he got the details about Swain. He provided the details to Nayapalli police and the city cops nabbed Swain from his house in Kamakhyanagar.
