Pakistan military on Friday claimed to have shot down a quadcopter, alleging that it was spying across Rakhchikri sector on Line on Control (LoC).
“Indian quadcopter spying across LoC in Rakhchikri sector shot down by Pak Army shooters. Wreckage held,” military spokesman Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted. No further details were given by the military.
Pakistan earlier on Tuesday summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Islamabad at the Foreign Office to lodge protest against firing by Indian troops across LoC which resultted in the killing of two women, Sumaira and Maryam.
‘India breaking truce’
Earlier on Friday, Foreign Office spokesman alleged that despite calls for restraint, India continued to indulge in ceasefire violations. “In 2017 to date, Indian forces have carried out more than 1,150 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the Working Boundary, resulting in the ‘shahadats’ of 49 innocent civilians and injuries to 165, as compared to 382 ceasefire violations in 2016,” he said.
The spokesman added that the deliberate targeting of civilians is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws. “The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” he said.
Pakistan has called for the Indian side to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement; investigate incidents of ceasefire violations; instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire, in letter and spirit and maintain peace on the LoC and the Working Boundary.
