Once the training is completed, they will be deployed to the Kerala State Electrcity Board’s sections for the survey. Within one month, a team comprising the ITI passouts and KSEB officials, under the supervision of KSEB assistant engineers, will complete a survey of all street lights in the Corporation area.

The civic body will give a stipend of Rs.6,000 to those who take part in the survey, which will assess various factors, including the number and type of lights, current situation, and width of adjoining roads.

There are an estimated 85,000 street lights in the city.

The decision to conduct the survey was taken to assess the cost-effectiveness of the streetlights, including high-mast lamps for which the Corporation had to shell out huge sums as electricity charges.
