AIILS to help NMC improve Swachh Bharat ratings
TNN | Oct 28, 2017, 02:56 ISTNagpur: After its poor performance in the last Swachh Bharat Mission survey, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will now take help of All India Institute of Local Self-Government (AIILS) to improve its position.
The standing committee on Friday gave its nod to the health department's proposal to hire the agency. For this, the NMC will pay Rs8.80 lakh to AIILS.
Similarly, the panel gave its nod to install feedback switches outside public toilets. Keeping track over record of cleanliness and maintenance of the toilets, users can now give their feedbacks by pressing one of the three switches good, average or bad. For this, the NMC will not have to spend single penny as it has already received Rs43.20 lakh from central government under Swachh Bharat Mission.
The committee also cleared the proposal of the social welfare department to provide e-rickshaw to 70 physically challenged persons in the 18-50 years age group (7 candidates from each zone). The beneficiaries will be selected through draw of lots, said Jadhav.
Development work will be carried out in the NIT layout handed over to NMC. Taking into account of the conditions of the proposal funds for the development will be collected from those citizens who had failed to pay their development charges to NIT.In Friday's meeting, the panel gave its nod to 25 different work proposals worth Rs8.96 crore.
