Mapusa council chief officer’s house burgled

Mapusa: In a daring daylight burglary on Friday, unidentified persons targeted the residence of Mapusa Municipal Council's (MMC) chief officer and deputy collector Clen Madeira's house at Gaunsavaddo-Siolim, along the the busy Sodiem-Mapusa road.
Mapusa police told TOI that the MMC chief officer's mother, Cyena Madeira, filed a complaint at the police station stating that while she was out on some work at Mapusa, thieves entered her residence by breaking open the latch on the main door and decamped with two wrist watches, worth Rs 14,000, and Rs 150 in cash. The complainant stated that the burglary took place between 10.30am and 1.30pm.
The MMC chief officer, who stays with his mother, said there was nothing valuable which could be stolen. The cash of Rs 150 was in coins. Madeira was at the municipality when the burglary took place.
The incident came to light after the complainant returned home at around 1.30pm. Mapusa police have booked an offence against unidentified persons.
