Two arms dealers held, revolver seized

BHUBANESWAR: Commissionerate Police arrested two persons under the Arms Act and recovered a gun along with three round ammunitions from their possession. They are Ashok Kumar Sundara and his uncle Sanatan Sundara, natives of Bologarh and were staying in Nayapalli area here.According to police, Ashok and Sanatan started fleeing on seeing the patrolling vehicle near tourist bus stand in Khandagiri area on Wednesday.
The city cops managed to nab Ashok, while Sanatan managed to flee from the spot. On frisking Ashok, the police recovered a countrymade revolver and three rounds of ammunition from him.Ashok revealed that he and his uncle were involved in illegal sale of weapons for the last several years and had come near the tourist bus stand in Khandagiri to sell the revolver to a person. The police later in the evening nabbed Sanatan from his residence in Nayapalli area.Interestingly, the family members of Ashok and Sanatan had lodged a complaint with Nayapalli police on Wednesday night alleging that few unidentified persons came in a car and a motorcycle and kidnapped the duo at gun-point.
Subsequently, Nayapalli police launched a search operation to rescue the two persons, who were arrested by Khandagiri police.Sanatan has a land dispute with one of his relatives, who is a city based builder. Nayapalli police suspected that the builder had kidnapped Sanatan and Ashok. The builder was later detained at Nayapalli police station for questioning. However, Khandagiri police communicated with Nayapalli police on October 26 morning about the arrests of the two persons. The builder was later let-off by the city cops.A case has been registered against Ashok and Sanatan under Section 25 (1B) (a) of the Arms Act and they were produced in a court on Thursday, Khandagiri police said.
