Rajkot: Police raided a godown on Kothariya Road in Rajkot and seized a large cache of spurious ghee on Thursday night. Two persons were arrested from the spot.
The seizure include 10 cans weighing 14 kg each, 1,090 pouches of 500ml of ghee, 61 pouches of one litre ghee and a packaging machine. The ghee used to be packaged under the brand name of Amul. Those arrested have been identified as Prakash Kapadiya (24) and his cousin Mahesh Gajera (23), both residents of Shivdham Society on Kothariya Road.
"The accused said they used to get supply from a trader and they themselves did not make the ghee. They only did the packaging work," Aji dam police station inspector P N Vaghela said.
"The accused duo had been selling the spurious ghee in different dairies of Rajkot for the past two months," Vaghela added.
