Woman consumes poison in police station over land dispute

CHENNAI: A 52-year-old woman who was called for inquiry in connection with a property dispute allegedly consumed poison at the Kanagamma Chathiram police station on Thursday.

Valliammal, of Arumbakkam Colony near Tiruttani, along with her husband, was called for an inquiry, based on a complaint filed by another villager.

“It is said that the petitioner had sought police intervention to evict the couple staying in the land owned by him,” said police. Her condition is stable.
