PMC takes strict action against illegal hoardings

The PMC has taken action against 103 illegal hoardings in the current financial year while action was taken against 21 and 156 hoardings in 2016-17 and 2015-16 respectively.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started blacklisting agencies that put up illegal banners and hoardings in the city, while also cancelling the license issued to them to put up advertising boards.

“The PMC has started taking strict action against those involved in putting up illegal hoardings and advertising boards across the city. The civic body is blacklisting the agencies involved in illegal putting up advertising boards. We would also be cancelling the permission given to the responsible agencies for putting up legal advertising boards in other parts of the city,” said municipal commissioner Kunal Kumar in response to the demand for strict action against the agencies involved in putting up illegal advertising boards.

The civic administration said that action was taken against 1,34,517 illegal boards, banners, flex, flags, posters and kiosks that were put up in Pune in the current financial year while action was taken against 3,04,565 and 1,73,166 illegal boards in 2016-17 and 2015-16 respectively.

Earlier, Shiv Sena corporator Bala Oswal tabled a resolution in the standing committee urging the civic administration to blacklist the agencies that are found to install illegal advertising board.
