THANE: The notorious railway pole thieves struck at a female commuter between Mulund and Thane stations Friday evening.
Two youngsters perched on a pole adjoining the railway tracks near Kopri bridge and hit the female passenger's hand with a rod forcing her to drop her mobile while she was standing on the footboard of a running local train. Luckily, the victim, a MNS functionary from Thane, managed to mantain her balance else would have fallen off the running train.
The lady said she was travelling back home and was standing at the footboard of a local as Thane station was approaching.
"Suddenly as the train was passing Kopri, I felt a sharp pain on my wrist leading me to drop my mobile. All I could see was two young boys perched atop a pole with a stick in their hands waiting to hit at hapless commuters. Somehow I managed to regain my balance and not fall off the crowded train," said the victim.
The lady immediately registered a case with the Thane Railway police and gave a description of the boys.
