Tata CliQ plans to launch an e-wallet that can be used exclusively on its e-commerce website for payments and refunds. The wallet, to be launched within four to five months, may later be extended for use across other omnichannel partners, reports the Economic Times.

Along with e-wallets, the two targeted plans are for Tata CliQ's operator, Tata UniStore, to be India's largest multichannel platform by doubling its 60 multichannel brands platforms in a year, Tata UniStore CEO Ashutosh Pandey told the paper. He said the investment will continue till there is a breakeven point, which they aim to achieve within three to four years.

Multichannel brands are those where a consumer can shop online via phones, laptops, etc., teleshop or shop from brick and mortar stores.

The website will launch new categories like jewellery, home furnishing and furniture. However, FMCG is yet to come into the picture.

The CEO said the aim is to sell swanky items and not cheap products so that their customers have a 'differentiated experience'.

He said, “Our focus isn’t on just selling low-value products like unbranded pen drives and power banks to increase volumes. Instead, our focus was on experience-led large ticket items like 50-inch plus televisions, AC, luxury products.”
