Over 80 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Thursday

NEW DELHI: As much as 81 stocks, including Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bharti Airtel, Birla Corporation, Canara Bank, Century Textiles & Industries, Delta Corp and GAIL (India) hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE on Thursday.

On the contrary, 17 stocks, including Arcotech, Diamond Power Infra, Dynamatic Technologies, Khaitan Electricals, Reliance Communications and Tara Jewels hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE.

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 settled in the positive territory after scaling fresh record highs of 33,151.26 and 10,355.65, respectively, on Thursday.

The BSE Sensex ended Thursday's session 105 points up at 33,147, while Nifty50 closed 48 points up at 10,344.

Among the gainers in the Nifty50 index, oil and pharma stocks led. Shares of Bharat Petroleum Corporation zoomed over 5 per cent in the Nifty50 index. It was followed by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Cipla, Hindalco, Aurobindo Pharma, Maruti Suzuki India, Axis Bank and UPL.

On the other hand, HCL Technologies, ICICI Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, State Bank of India, Ambuja Cements and Power Grid Corporation of India remained the top losers among the Nifty50 stocks.

Shares of State Bank of India (Rs 3724.11 crore), Punjab National Bank (Rs 2658.05 crore) and Infosys (Rs 1592.86 crore) remained the most active stocks in terms of value on NSE on Thursday.
