Minor raped in Dhrangadhra

Rajkot: A 13-year-old girl has been raped in Dhrangadhra.

According to the complaint lodged by the survivor's mother, the accused identified as Jigar Vakil raped her on the nights between October 21 and October 22.

"Apart from Jigar, the complaint names his mother Monghi Vakil, Pradeep and Hitesh as the co-accused. The complainant has alleged that Jigar coaxed her daughter to come with him and took her to different places in Dhrangadhra and raped the minor. Hitesh and Pradeep helped him in the crime," said an official from Dhrangadhra police station.

The accused after committing the crime dumped the victim at her house on the night of October 22. The girl confided to her mother. When the survivor's mother went to register a protest with Monghi, she was allegedly threatened with dire consequences if she went to police.

"We have booked the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for rape and criminal intimidation and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012," added the official.
