On 21 October, terrorists had hurled a grenade at the house of People's Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Mushtaq Ahmad Shah at Tral. Fortunately, no injuries were reported because Shah's family members were not in the house. Security forces reached Shah's house after the attack and launched a search operation.

The attack in Tral comes on the same day that militants hurled a grenade at a police station in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in injuries to three persons, including two cops. The attack at Damhal Hanjipora police station took place at around 4 pm and the grenade exploded inside its compound, a police official said.

A constable, a special police officer and a civilian were injured in the blast, he said.

The injured have been rushed to a hospital while a hunt has been launched to nab the attackers, he added.

Jammu and Kashmir has recently seen a rise in grenade attacks on security personnel as well as civilians.
