Bribery scandal: CBI seizes CCTV footage, quizzes Inspector Jaswinder Kaur

A TEAM of CBI on Thursday seized the CCTV footage of Sector 31 police station for verifying the claim of bribe accused S-I Mohan Singh that before accepting the bribe, he had met Inspector Jaswinder Kaur, former SHO of Sector 31, inside the police station on October 24. On Thursday, Kaur was again summoned and questioned for more than eight hours at the CBI headquarters in Sector 30. S-I Mohan along with complainant Prem Singh Bisht was taken to Car Bazaar ground in Ramdarbar for identification of the spot where Bisht had met SHO Kaur a few days before handing over the bribe amount to the S-I.

Sources in CBI said, “During interrogation, Mohan disclosed that the SHO knew that he was going to accept the bribe amount. We have seized the CCTV recording of police station, Sector 31, for verifying Mohan’s claim. Kaur is also being questioned. Her replies are contradictory.”

A team of CBI sleuths took around one hour to seize the October 24 CCTV footage of Sector 31 police station. In his complaint to CBI, Bisht alleged, “Accused S-I took him in his Eon car to Car Bazaar ground in Ramdarbar, where SHO Jaswinder Kaur was sitting in her police Gypsy. She directed him to fulfil the demand of S-I. Otherwise the complainant along with his employees would be continuously harassed and his employees would be chargesheeted.”

A senior CBI officer said, “We are collecting all relevant evidence. Rs 9 lakh which was being demanded by S-I Mohan Singh is a huge amount. In the recorded conversation, S-I Mohan had stated that Rs 1 lakh is meant for him and Rs 8 lakh will go to the SHO.”

Extracts of the recorded conversation between Bisht, S-I Singh and Jospeh, one of Bisht’s employees:

Bisht: Sirji, saari baat clear kar lete hai (Sir, we should make everything clear).

S-I: Ho gai clear saari baat (Everything is clear now).

Bisht to Joseph: Main tujhe bata raha hu, SHO sahib se meri baat karva di thi inhone. Mujhse ye kaha tha unhone, jo ye kehta hai vaisa kar lo.

SI Mohan: Kuch nahi, koi nahi marega…keh diya…bus keh diya naa koi nahi marega (Nothing. Nobody will be in the loss, I tell you).

Joseph: Dekho Deepa ke 4 lakh or Anil ke 5 lakh ko thoda to kum karva do.

S-I: Madam manti nahi hai.. aukhi-aukhi manayai hai..ab to case mere pass aa gaya hai.. par agle mahine tak badal jaye shayad.

Bisht: Enquiry me enhone bola hai. Teen adami nikal jayegai. SHO ki jo enhonai mere saath baat karvyai hai, jo amount inhone batayi hai, usme se inka to kuch nahi bachna mere khyal se.

S-I: Mujhe kuch nahi milegaa (I will not get anything).

Joseph: 9 me se kitna jana hai SHO ko (How much will SHO get)?

SI Mohan: 8 to jayega hi, mujhe to lakh hi degi (She get 8 and I’ll get one lakh).
