The title Dumki Damaar may sound weird to many but this is a musical reference, to a rhythm. Pradeep Varma, the actor, director and music director of this film, says that it was inspired by his early days in the industry.

“I started my film career as a keyboard player and worked in around 85 films. During this time, I worked with music directors Arjun Janya, V Manohar and Mano Murthy,” says Pradeep.

“Since this is my first film, I wanted to come up with a title that would make some noise. ‘Dum’ is a key musical note and it does make a lot of sound, I planned a storyline around this word. The film is set around a weekend and the title is used as a code word in our film”.

As a keyboard player, Pradeep developed a passion for other aspects of cinema and he started getting involved in the writing of scripts. “When I decided to do a movie, I thought I would try and do most jobs in filmmaking… all at my own risk. Since, I have worked with many directors, I ask for their guidance too,” he says.

This comedy romantic thriller features Chaithra Shetty, who is a theatre artiste, in the female lead. Jagadish Venky and  Anushka are also in the cast. The film made under the home banner, Sri Bhumika Productions, is produced by the hero’s father P Sadgunamurthy, who has also worked as a music director.
