Market Now: Auto stocks up; Maruti Suzuki, Ashok Leyland top gainers

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index was trading in the positive territory in Thursday's afternoon trade, backed by the gains in Maruti Suzuki India (up 2.23 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 2.10 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (up 1.93 per cent).

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.51 per cent up at 11,208 around 01:35 pm (IST).

Shares of Bajaj Auto (up 0.80 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.49 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.45 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 0.39 per cent), MRF (up 0.28 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (up 0.26 per cent) were also trading in the green.

However, Tata Motors (down 1.45 per cent), Exide Industries (down 1.34 per cent), Bosch (down 1.29 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 1.00 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (down 0.99 per cent), Tata Motors (down 0.26 per cent) and Apollo Tyres (down 0.17 per cent) were losing in trade around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 26 points up at 10,321, while the BSE Sensex was 39 points up at 33,081.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Shares of PNB, SBI, Bank of Baroda, SAIL, BHEL, ICICI Bank, YES Bank, Axis Bank, PFC, NHPC, Idea Cellular, NMDC were among the most traded securities on the National Stock Exchange.
