3 day yoga meet to mark Janardanswami’s 125th birth anniversary
tnn | Oct 27, 2017, 03:46 ISTNagpur: Shri Janardanswami Yogabhyasi Mandal, Ram Nagar, will be observing the 125th birth anniversary of its mentor with a three day programme starting Nov 17. Giving details of the event that would be held at Ram Nagar Sangh Ground from Nov 17 to 19, Ram Khandwe, who heads the institution said, "We expect nearly 5000 delegates to attend and have lined up a number of activities from 4.30am to 10pm on all these days."
The highlights of the three day event include early morning yoga, pranayama and meditation sessions and discussions on newer methods of treating ailments through yoga. For the first time in the city a session will be devoted to live demonstration of shuddhi kriyas for internal cleansing of the body.
A line up of experts and renowned personalities would enrich the meet with their thoughts and experiences. "The meet will see presence of renowned thinker Jitendra Maharaj, Aparna Ramtirthakar, speaker Vivek Ghalasasi, Ashtanga yoga expert Ashit Ambekar and presentation of devotional songs based on life of Swami Janardan by Charudatt Aphaleji. The members of Unity Sports Club, Nagpur will make presentations of yog pyramids during the conference
Yogabhyasi Mandal has its branches in Vidarbha and other cities like Mumbai, Sangli and Pune. "We are expecting delegates from all these places and have made arrangements for their stay at Nagpur," Khandwe said and added that a nominal charge of Rs600 will be taken from those who would like to avail these facilities.
"Arrangements have also been made to provide pure vegetarian satvik meals to all delegates twice a day. Wholesome meals will be prepared and consumed in accordance with the ancient philosophy of 'Anna he purna Brahma'," Khandwe said.
Yogabhyasi Mandal was established in 1951 at Nagpur by Janardanswami to propagate and instil the value and habit of yoga among common people. It has been organizing large scale events every two years since 1992. In 2011, a three-day Yoga conference was held to commemorate the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Mandal and was attended by 3500 delegates from all over the region and state. A similar conference was organized by in Yavatmal in 2015.
