BENGALURU: A 13-year-old boy drowned in a lake at Ramohalli in Kumbalagodu police station limits on Tuesday. His body was fished out by Fire Department personnel on Wednesday morning.
Chandan, son of Krishnappa and Lilavathi, both labourers, was a resident of Vinayakanagar, near Kengeri. He was a student of Class 8 at L N R Public School, Ramohalli. According to police, around 12.30 pm on Tuesday, he left home on his bicycle after informing his brother Abhishek (12).

Police said Chandan then met two of his friends — Darshan and Rahul, who are also his classmates. Around 2 pm, Chandan told them that he was going to the Bhimanakuppe Lake nearby.
On Tuesday evening, after Chandan’s father came home and found he was not home yet, he began to search for him. His bicycle, clothes and footwear were found near the lake after which the police were informed. Chandan’s body was found around 10 am on Wednesday and has been sent for post-mortem.
A police official said it was only after 25 years that the lake received so much water, so residents nearby sometimes took a dip.

Police said no official was stationed at the lake on Tuesday but from Wednesday, a police official had been deployed here permanently. Kumbalagodu police have registered a case.
