Minor fire still left in Neemrana factory

Alwar/Jaipur: Fire at the inside and outside compound of a diaper manufacturing unit of Japanese industrial zone in Neemrana was almost doused by the firemen and local administration. Minor flames are still left inside the factory and efforts are on to douse it by late on Thursday evening.

Fire broke out late on Tuesday evening due to which the entire factory was gutted. Fire tenders from Alwar and Haryana tried to contain sweeping flames from engulfing nearby companies and warehouses.

"It is 90% doused. Only concern left is to douse the fire that is in the inside compound of the factory. Since area is overheating despite the spray of foam and water, it will take more time for our men to get inside for the fire extinguishing exercise," said an officer with the fire department on Thursday.

Senior officers of the police and local administration said that the products and machinery worth over several crores were gutted. "We have brought as many as 35 fire tenders from Haryana and different parts of Rajasthan. Efforts are on for complete dousing of fire and smoke," said an officer.

It may be recalled that fire has also corroding the building structure of some portion due to overheating.

However, no loss of life and injury was reported in the incident so far. In the so far investigation a clear negligence from the factory officials has been found. "Smoke was spotted at 10 pm on Tuesday evening, but initially it was ignored," said an officer.
