BJP plans 7 Modi rallies in Karnataka before Election Commission announces election dates

NEW DELHI:The BJP is bracing up to unleash its “Brand Modi” in all the seven regions of Karnataka slated to go to polls early next year. While Prime Minister Modi will kick-start the preparations for the elections on October 29 from Bidar, BJP chief Amit Shah will flag off a yatra from Bengaluru, for which the saffron outfit has called for a workers’ show of strength on 27,000 bikes.

“We are doing a unique preparation in Karnataka wherein party workers from half of the 54,000 polling booths have been asked to come to Bengaluru on November 2 for the launch of the yatra. Six workers from each of the 27,000 polling booths will come on bikes to Bangaluru, which will be one of its first kind of show of strength by the party,” BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao said. The 75-day-long yatra will connect all the 224 Assembly seats in the state.
Incidentally, BJP is considering a proposal to make Prime Minister address a rally in each of the seven regions of the state before the dates of the elections are announced. BJP is expecting the Election Commission to announce polling dates by January 15.

“We have also undertaken Naushakti Sammelan under which one member each from scheduled caste, women, OBC, booth level coordinator with Election Commission, besides president and secretary of the booth level executives are members. The conferences of Naushakti will be held in each Assembly constituency in the state to gear up the party functionaries for the elections,” added Rao, who is also BJP in-charge for Karnataka.

He said the party will also hold an agitation campaign in 400 villages where farmers have committed suicide in the recent years. “Agrarian distress in the state will be one of top issues of the party and we will go to each of the village which saw suicides by farmers,” said Rao.The BJP leader also stated that corruption during the Congress government will be a major issue along with lack of development in the state, besides the poor infrastructure status in Bangaluru. “Under the leadership of B S Yedyurappa, the BJP will hold gram sabhas in 400 villages,” Rao said.
