Yogi Adityanath visits Taj Mahal, launches mega cleanliness drive

AGRA: Amid an ongoing row over the Taj Mahal and its place in the history of India, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath visited the 17th century Mughal-era monument today.
This is the chief minister's first visit to the Agra tourist hotspot after assuming the reins of Uttar Pradesh. Adityanath is the first BJP CM of UP to visit the monument of love.
The last time a UP CM visited the Taj was Akhilesh Yadav, more than two years back.
Yogi was accorded a guard of honour on his arrival in the city. Over 14,000 policemen have been deployed across the city for his security.
He launched a mega cleanliness campaign along with 500 BJP activisits and social workers around the west gate of Taj Mahal. He also announced the construction of rubber barrage near the Nagala Paima.
On an earlier occasion, Yogi had announced that his government would spend Rs 370 crore on developing and promoting tourism in Agra.
