HYDERABAD: On the occasion of the World Stroke Day, MaxCure Hospitals organiseda week-long awareness campaign with various initiatives. The campaign will primarily focus on signs of stroke with the aim ofsaving lives and improving outcomes for survivors. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashish, Consultant Neuro Surgeon, MaxCure said, “Stroke is a condition, where blood supply to the brain is interrupted causing damage to the brain.
Every second counts. But how many of us know what exactly causes stroke? And the right treatment? Not only common people, but many doctors lack the knowledge on the progress of treatment given to stroke patients. The DAWN trail – an international study proves that the endovascular thromboectomy can reduce a stroke patient’s risk of becoming disabledup to 24 hours after the stroke. Previously, it was only six hours. These results have changed the way the stroke patients were treated.”
“We strongly believe that in our country, management of stroke is not standardised due to lack of comprehensive stroke centers managing the patient with appropriate medical treatment and /or endovascular management together at one time. So, we at MaxCure have developed an app to help both doctors and patients for complete understanding about Stroke,” he added.
MaxCure also announced the launch of a new mobile application for stroke patients – StrokeCure – a stroke support app
After the launch, Dr Ashish said “Stroke attacks very abruptly. No one expects. So keeping a check on all the symptoms is key. The awareness regarding Stroke is very minimal. The app is both for patients and doctors. It is a revolution and can help patients in the remote areas through the Tele-stroke option. I congratulate MaxCure team of Neurologists for this step.”
Dr. Jaiswal, Consultant Neuro Surgeon, MaxCure said, “This app not only has information for the patients, but also can guide a general physician in a remote location on how to further investigate and proceed for the treatment. This app also has a tele-stroke option where a Neuro Surgeon can be consulted live and if a physician is not a neurologist, we can get our team of neurologists and stroke specialist to see the patient and advise the next steps, even if the patient is at a remote place.”
