NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.77 per cent up at 17,291 around 12:40 pm (IST), with shares of Polaris Consulting & Services (up 20 per cent) and RattanIndia Infrastructure (up 19 per cent) gaining up to 20 per cent.

Signet Industries (up 13.66 per cent), Dilip Buildcon (up 12.99 per cent), Selan Exploration Technology (up 12.62 per cent), Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers (up 12 per cent), PNB Gilts (up 10.77 per cent), Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals (up 10.39 per cent), DCW (up 10.17 per cent) and Titagarh Wagons (up 10.08 per cent) surged over 10 per cent in the BSE Smallcap index.

BSE Midcap index was also outperforming benchmark Sensex in Thursday's trade. Shares of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 12.47 per cent) surged over 12 per cent in the midcap index.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 18 points up at 10,313, while the BSE Sensex was up 14 points at 33,056.

Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty index, 29 were trading in the green, while 21 were in the red.

Cipla, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Coal India, Sun Pharma, Infosys and Tata Steel were among the top gainers in the Sensex index.

On the contrary, ICICI Bank, Power Grid Corporation, HDFC, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever were the top losers among the Sensex stocks.
