The district administration is sending a proposal for upgrading six village panchayats – Avanigadda, Kaikalur, Kalidindi, Mylavaram, Pamarru and Vissannapet - to Nagar Panchayats keeping their pace of urbanization, according to Collector B. Lakshmi Kantham.
An unspecified number of villages in the purview of nine municipalities have been recommended for merger with the respective urban local bodies.
Mr. Kantham discussed the modalities in a meeting with regional deputy director of town and country planning Saibaba, district town and Country Planning officer Sudhakar and other officials.
