30-kg cannabis seized in Jammu

The excise deparment today seized 30kg of cannabis from a truck after foiling a bid to smuggle the drug from Kashmir to Punjab, an official said.

The excise sleuths intercepted the truck early today at Lakhanpur checkpoint in Kathua district, about 80km south-east of Jammu, and recovered the narcotocis packed in bags, a senior officer of the excise department told PTI.


The driver of the truck has been arrested and a case registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
